January 2nd

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Here you will find the link to the 2019 Summer School Workshops. Please register before the 7th of January to avoid disappointment. Sessions with low student registrations will be combined or cancelled.

All registered families will be notified of any changes to the timetable or cancellations by the 12th of January. Please note Summer School is being held at Starz Dance Centre in Kyneton. when you register you will be directed to the Starz Dance Centre Parent portal for registration. (Note we still have a few spaces available I have opened up the ages to students 6 years and over on some workshops bookings open until 16th January)

So very proud of Alanna Romeijn 2nd Place in the u15 Neo Classical Division at Nationals today. Best performance of Skyboat Song to date and your highest score all season for this routine. What a way to say goodbye to this routine. – Miss Amy

Long day today. This evening Alanna and I competed Broadway Jazz Alanna received a Star Award in a massive section. And I am National Champion in the Masters Division(the old people section 😂😂)

Follow Your Dreams Dance Nationals is January 3-9 2020 teams who qualify scoring above 86 points and placing 1st or 2nd in an FYD event Qualify to participate.

AASCF Nationals November 29th-December 1st

All Star Cheer & Dance teams who score above the qualifying score of 75 points will be eligible to attend. Dance Doubles and stunt groups must reach the qualifying score and place 1st or 2nd to qualify at and AASCF event.

Lookout I got the most wonderful message from Miss Claire asking if I was looking for regular weekly teachers. She loved you guys so much she wanted to work with you. So guess what Miss Claire is our New Tuesday Classical Ballet & Hip Hop Teacher 😃😃 Claire will be taking the Hip Hop competition Team also!!

CLAIRE HAYWOOD

Born into a dance and theatre family, Claire has been involved in the live entertainment industry her whole life. She has trained in various styles of Dance including Classical, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Commercial, Hip hop, acrobatics and cheerleading.

Claire caught the directing and choreography bug as a teenager and went on to run a successful production company with her parents where she created and directed many works throughout Victoria. Notable career highlights include directing A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the young age of 20, creating and directing the infamous political comedy Curly Girl Burlesque and creating entertainment for corporations such Foxtel, the City of Melbourne and the Hume City Council.

For seven years Claire was the Principal of Haywood

Academy of Performing Arts (HAPA) in Melbourne’s West where she trained many talented students who went on to work throughout the industry. As an avid learner, Claire enjoys studying and upskilling her qualifications. To date, she holds a Bachelor Creative Arts (Hons.) from the University of Melbourne, with a Double Major in Theatre and Writing; Diploma of Dance Teaching and Management; Diploma of Event Management; AASCF Cheerleading and Tumbling Coaches qualifications (Level 3). She hopes to add many more to the list!

Claire has worked extensively throughout the country as a dance and vocal adjudicator and says that adjudicating is her passion, second only to being a Mum to her sons Indiana and Charlie.

Claire has adjudicated at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod for both Dance (2013) and Vocal (2014), Dancefest in Victoria on three consecutive occasions, in addition to the Burnie Eisteddfod in Tasmania and the Mt Gambier Eisteddfod. In 2015 Claire adjudicated Melbourne’s Follow Your Dreams.

New studio policy regarding earrings, facial and body piercings along with injuries.

Due to changes in our insurance policy Cheerleaders must remove ALL piercings prior to practice. Taping over earrings is not accepted by our insurer. Our insurance policy will not cover injuries sustained while wearing jewellery.

Students who sustain injuries outside of official SCDS classes, workshops, competitions or performances are not covered by SCDS or AASCF insurance.

Athletes who sustain major or minor head injuries, sprains, breaks or fracture either while attending a studio classes or events or outside the studio at home, school or other sporting activity will need to provide a clearance letter to return to activity from a GP, Physiotherapist or Chiropractor. This letter will need to state that the athlete is physically able to undertake the physical demands of Tumbling, Stunting and Dance.

Students or athletes who have been seeing a GP, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or other allied health professional for any reason that prevents full participation in Cheer or Dance Classes will need to provide a letter from the treating doctor or allied health specialist with details of the students condition/ limitations with details of approved activities and return to full activity management plan.

Does your child’s training uniform, cheer shoes and competition cheer uniform still fit? Please check! Competition uniforms will they fit for the entire season? Please let me know if you will need new items?
